Leupold's new VX-5HD Telescopes
28 Jul 2017

Latest News

The newest rifle telescope from the Leupold product line is designed to allow hunters and shooters to push the boundaries with their shooting, and the new VX5HD riflescope includes a number of features designed to help shooters reach greater distances.

“Every year, more hunters are going beyond their comfort zone to take on ever bigger adventures,” said Tim Lesser, vice president of product development for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “The VX-5HD is designed and built to help these hunters expand their hunts from bigger game to more challenging areas. If you can dream it, the VX-5HD can hunt it.”

In line with the naming of the other various VX lines of optics, the new VX-5 series of optics features 5x magnification over the base power. This puts the new offering squarely between the VX-3i and VX-6HD lines of optics. The new VX-5HD series has launched with three optics, a 1-5x, a 2-10x, and a 3-15x optic.

The new scopes use the Leupold’s innovative Twilight Max light management system in order to provide shooters with the best possible sight picture from early morning until late twilight. The system also works to reduce glare in harsh sunlight. The “Guardian” Lens Coating is a Leupold offering featured on the VX-5HD which sheds water and dirt, and even resists fingerprints. All models are built on a 30mm center tube.

Another feature of the new scope line is the use of Leupold's CDS-ZL2 adjustments, also found on the far more expensive VX-6HD line of telescopes. It features a “Zero-Lock”, requiring a small button to be depressed before the turret will turn. The secure locking dials can be calibrated to a shooter's exact rifle and ammo combination to precisely reflect a gun's ballistic capabilities.

Once the button is depressed, there are two full rotations upward, and each turn has 20 MOA. Thus 40 MOA of elevation is available, which will take most popular hunting calibers to distances of well beyond 1,000 yards. As such, the VX-5HD would be an obvious choice for serious long-range shooters.

As expected, the VX-5HD carries Leupold’s Full Lifetime Guarantee.
