The South African Hunters and Game Conservation Association's (SAHGCA) regular annual hunting expo has exceeded its shelf-life. It needed a serious revamp to meet the needs and preferences of the South African hunting community.
About six months ago, the SAHGCA called on the expert advice of Nellie Swart, senior lecturer of the Department of Tourism Management at the University of Johannesburg, to assist with a market survey among hunters to determine exactly what it is that they expect to see and do at an annual hunter's expo.
The results of this extensive survey was very informative and confirmed the SAHGCA's suspicions that the traditional hunter's expo has become inadequate for its target audience. It was indeed time for a better, bigger and more versatile annual exhibition where hunters can access a wide variety of products and services at reasonable prices. The study further showed that hunters wanted more than just products. There was a big demand for skills training and activities aimed specifically at the hunter.
HuntEx2011 that will be held at Gallagher Convention Centre from 15 - 17 April 2011, is the answer to what hunters want. More information about the research and its results will follow soon.
