Will game prices rise ?
03 Feb 2009

Latest News

Everybody is aware of the current economic crises and the question is what will the effect be on game prices. According to
http://www. wildlifeinfo.co.za the game prices for last year were:
Average Hunting Price 2008
Springbok R 480
Impala R 700
Blesbuck R 690
Kudu R 3400
Warthog R 500
Blue wildebeest R 2300
Gemsbuck R 4000

Average accommodation price R320/hunter

If the auction prices of 2006/7 is anything to go by it seems that the game farmers are not exactly making a huge profit on the selling of game.

Springbok R 1025
Impala R 667
Blesbuck R 1038
Kudu R 2031
Warthog R 696
Blue wildebeest R 1510
Gemsbuck R 4566

In terms of this one can not expect a decline in prices but rather a sideways movement or a slight increase. The implementation of the TOPS-regulations applicable to scarce and endangered species will probably have an effect on more exotic species such as the sable and roan antelopes.
