Adri Kisthoff New Wildlife Ranching South Africa Ceo

Wildlife Ranching South Africa (WRSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Adri Kitshoff as its new CEO with effect from 1 October 2015 with a possible hand-over time in her current position. Kitshoff, who is currently the chief executive of the Professional Hunters' Association of South Africa (PHASA) - a position she has held for five-and-a-half years - has almost 15 years" experience in the hunting industry, both regarding South African and international hunters.

Phasa Applauds SAA Decision To Lift Cargo Embargo On Certain Hunting Trophies

The Professional Hunters Association of South Africa (PHASA) has welcomed the decision by South African Airways (SAA) to reverse the embargo it had effected on 21 April this year on the transportation of rhino, elephant, lion and tiger trophies on the carrier's services worldwide.

'n Buffeltrofee wat in die annale opgeteken gaan word, is egter vir slegs 'n handjievol jagters beskore. Om te hoor van 'n nie-jagter wat deur 'n sonderlinge stel omstandighede opgeeindig het met 'n pryswenner van 'n buffel teen sy muur, is dus 'n baie rare verhaal.

Hunting Tourism Breaks R1 billion mark

The Professional Hunters" Association of South Africa (PHASA) has released the latest statistics from the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA). The figures show an increase of 32% in hunting tourism revenue from 2012 to 2013 where hunting tourists spent an estimated R1,07 billion in South Africa in 2013, up from R811 million the year before.

European Union Trophy Import Rules Changed

The European Union (EU) is making it more difficult to import hunting trophies of these six species into the EU. The European Commission has finalized new importation rules that will take effect on 5 February 2015. SCI alerted members of these new rules last year. Under the new rules, a trophy of any of the six species cannot be imported into an EU country without an import certificate issued by the wildlife authority of the importing country.

For many hunters, going pigeon shooting is a thoroughly enjoyable farm outing and makes for a fun-filled day. Especially if it's close to home. Unlike plains game hunting, which is done during the winter months, wingshooting is available throughout the year in most provinces in South Africa. And this makes it a great activity to start off the year's shooting, before the main hunting season opens.
